Back pain is one of the most significant health problems in Germany. This painful topic arises during the life of 85% of the country's population. Often the complaints are minor and disappear after 4-6 weeks.

The duration of pain up to 12 weeks (or hospital stay with this diagnosis for more than 6 weeks) may indicate chronic back pain.

Treatment

ERIP= EPILS= EuromedClinic Intensive Back Treatment Program is a non-surgical, non-surgical, multidisciplinary therapy program that uses a wide range of medical fields to work with you to achieve long-term relief of chronic pain and a significant improvement in your physical condition and ability to work.
Current observations show that many hours of daily treatment based on a carefully made diagnosis is optimally suited to achieve this goal. Reasonable dosing and purposeful planning and interaction of individual elements of therapy are extremely important factors for success.

What is the ERIP=EPILS=EuromedClinic Intensive Back Treatment Program?
ERIP = EPILS (EuromedClinic Intensive Back Treatment Program) is carried out under the supervision of doctors and consists of medical training therapy (MTT), work therapy (“work hardening”, ergotherapy), mastery of relaxing, relaxing techniques and their training, from manual therapy (“reduction ”), medication (pills, injections and a catheter if indicated) and non-drug pain therapy, as well as special psychological support for pain.

Which type of treatment is preferable: outpatient or inpatient?
Taking into account the many hours of daily treatment complex, we recommend in most cases of chronic back pain a stay in the hospital, especially if drug therapy is prescribed.
If you fully concentrate on therapeutic measures, freeing yourself from typical household stresses, you can achieve the most positive therapeutic result.

Do private hospital insurances cover the costs of a patient's participation in the EuromedClinic Intensive Back Treatment Program?
Participation in ERIP= ENPILS leads, after a short period of time, to significant improvements in your ability to move and lead a more physically active lifestyle - both in the professional field and in your personal life.

This is a scientifically proven fact, and therefore, as a rule, private hospital insurances cover the costs of the patient's participation in the EuromedClinic-ERIP = ENPI Program. Responsible staff of the clinic will take care of the positive decision of your private hospital insurance regarding the costs of treatment under this program until the moment you are admitted to the hospital.

What do we mean by medical complex?
The medical complex is a detailed sequential plan for the implementation of therapeutic measures.
The treatment complexes of the EuromedClinic are developed taking into account the latest scientific achievements and are regularly compared with the results of medical research. The effectiveness and efficiency of medical complexes is scientifically confirmed.

Which treatment complex suits your specific back pain problems?
We are extremely attentive to the issue of finding out the cause of your back pain, since the success of therapy depends on the choice of the right treatment complex.

Your back pain is analyzed using questionnaires based on scientific criteria. Questions relate to your medical history, risk of osteoporosis, the severity and type of pain, general health, and so on. Based on the answers and results of the general examination, as well as on the basis of the data of other diagnostics performed, your disease is “tried on” to one of the developed treatment complexes, which is then individually “adjusted” to your specific case according to the “if-then” principle. This is how a “tailored” plan of therapeutic measures is formed, taking into account all your characteristics, which fully meets the requirements of modern medicine.

Is ERIP=EPILS (EuromedClinic Intensive Back Treatment Program) the right treatment for me?
Based on whether the pain is acute or chronic, we distinguish different groups of patients who are “assigned” to “flags” (flags) of a certain color, denoting different forms of therapy: outpatient or inpatient,
conservative treatment or surgery is necessary.

Patients presenting with a medically acute, not very complex pain picture are assigned a white flag first.

The red flag ("red flag") means that it is a pain that is difficult to bear and needs immediate conservative or surgical treatment.

Patients with chronic pain or complaints at risk of developing into chronic ones, as well as those who, in addition to physical causes, also have mental, psychosomatic, social and functional components (for example, stress, unevenly distributed workloads, etc.) , these patients are assigned to the "yellow flag" group. It is these patients who can undergo treatment under the ERIP=EPLS program.

The ERIP=EPILS program is especially well established for the conservative inpatient treatment of chronic or near-term back pain.

Distinctive features of acute and chronic back pain:

ACUTE:

  • duration less than 4 weeks;
  • sick leave less than 2 weeks.

CHRONIC:

  • lasting from 12 weeks;
  • sick leave for more than 6 weeks.

In such a case of the disease, processing and overcoming mental stress deserve special attention, along with pain therapy.

At least 1.5 hours of the treatment day should be allocated for this. Along with psychological measures, it is advisable to carry out activating physiotherapy from the very beginning of treatment, which, in addition to the effect of a physical nature, will help counteract the tendency to
self-isolation.
In addition to regular rounds, at least one detailed conversation with the attending physician should take place every week, during which the current positive results are analyzed and the further course of treatment measures is determined.

In this case, we recommend a 4-week hospital stay with 21 treatment days, which includes multidisciplinary pain therapy.
