Pneumological Oncology

Malignant diseases of the lung and pleura, such as bronchial carcinoma and mesothelioma, form special main directions within the framework of therapeutic tasks. As part of the diagnosis of tumors, modern endoscopic techniques are used. During therapy, patients benefit from close interaction with thoracic surgeons, oncologists and radiologists. In addition to chemotherapy for bronchial carcinoma, specialist pulmonologists also perform highly specialized endoscopic tumor therapy, such as, for example, laser tumor removal and stent implantation.

Allergology

Immunological and allergic lung diseases are at the forefront of the clinical and scientific focus of our physicians. This, along with fibrosis and sarcoidosis, also includes exogenous allergic alveolitis (“farmer’s lungs”, “pigeon breeders’ lungs”, “budgerigar lungs”), drug-induced lung diseases and rare diseases of the lung parenchyma (histiocytosis X, lymphangioleiomyomatosis, alveolar proteinosis, Wegener's disease, Hurg-Strauss syndrome, eosinophilia).

COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) / bronchial asthma

The next focus is on the care of patients with chronic respiratory diseases such as COPD and asthma (the "Disease Management Program"). Through the introduction of long-term oxygen therapy and artificial ventilation at home, special physiotherapy, as well as training in targeted inhalation techniques, it is possible to allow many patients with chronic respiratory diseases to make the transition to a "normal life".

Pulmonary hypertension

The next important area of our clinic is the diagnosis, treatment and dynamic monitoring of the condition of patients with pulmonary hypertension. An increase in pressure in the pulmonary circulation is the result of hardening and thickening of the walls of the pulmonary vessels. Depending on the cause, stage and severity of the disease, doctors use various types of drug therapy.

Modernly equipped places of the sleep laboratory of night clinics make it possible to diagnose all types of sleep disorders, including sleep-related breathing disorders. Along with obstructive sleep disorders, sleep disorders are treated here in case of heart failure and diseases of the muscular system.
