The most important warning sign of thyroid cancer is a newly formed, rapidly vanishing nodule in the thyroid gland. One should be especially wary when a long-existing goiter suddenly begins to grow rapidly and becomes partially or completely hard. The same applies to a goiter that has arisen again within a few weeks or months.

Therefore, unusual swelling in the neck is the reason for an immediate medical examination.

The following symptoms or complaints may indicate thyroid cancer:

  • Swallowing problems
  • Palpable or visible enlarged lymph nodes in the neck
  • Feeling of pressure in the neck
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Hoarseness
  • Urge to cough

If you observe such symptoms in yourself, this does not mean that you have a tumor disease. Often, these complaints can occur with a benign thyroid disease or for other innocuous reasons. But they can be signs of cancer!
