Breast cancer ranks first among all malignant neoplasms in women and has a pronounced upward trend.

If treatment is started at stage I, a stable cure is achieved in more than 90% cases, at II - in 60%, at III - only in 40%, and at stage IV - much less frequently. Therefore, one of the main goals of the Center is early diagnosis followed by ultra-modern therapy. If the doctor has already diagnosed you with breast cancer, do not be left alone with your problem! A close-knit team of expert doctors of the Breast Center will help you.

The Mammology Center provides a full range of specialized services, including prevention, diagnosis, treatment and consultations. The goal of the clinic staff is to treat cancer, stabilize and strengthen the mental state of patients, and the confidential atmosphere of the clinic contributes to solving not only physical, but also psycho-emotional problems.

For examinations, the Center has the ability to use all imaging diagnostic methods: digital mammography, high-frequency ultrasound diagnostics with elastography (elasticity testing) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Gentle biopsy techniques can make it less painful, carried out under the control of ultrasound or MRI.

Comprehensive therapeutic techniques allow the specialists of the Center to carry out a comprehensive treatment of breast cancer, using, along with chemotherapy and radiation therapy, cosmetic, plastic and reconstructive surgeries (techniques of cosmetic sutures, breast-saving techniques). In many cases, breast reconstruction can be performed as part of the main breast cancer surgery.

The solution to the problem of breast cancer is put in Germany at the state level. The center is recognized as one of the leaders in this field and is recommended by the Union of German Health Insurance Companies.

Diagnostics

The Center uses all imaging diagnostic methods. These include digital mammography, as well as high-frequency ultrasound diagnostics with elastography (elasticity testing) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). In the event of an upcoming tissue sampling, we have gentle techniques available, as well as the possibility of taking a biopsy under ultrasound or MRI.

Irradiation is performed after all breast-preserving operations. It can also be used in addition to chemotherapy or if breast tissue has been completely removed. The goal is always to destroy the smallest remnants of a cancerous tumor in the breast or in the area of the lymphatic flow. Thanks to modern technology, this treatment is now well tolerated and has only minor side effects.

Surgical treatment

In the treatment of breast cancer, surgeons of the gynecological clinic in 70% cases can save the breast. This is achieved through the use of special possibilities of plastic reconstruction. First of all, the actual breast tissue or surrounding tissues are used. In the event that a complete removal of the mammary gland is still necessary, each patient has the opportunity to restore the breast. These operations are carried out using own tissues or artificial materials. Working together with plastic surgeons, mammologists even offer the implantation of the patient's own tissues under a microscope. Only a few clinics in Germany own this technique. In addition to surgery for breast cancer, cosmetic correction of the female breast can also be performed:

  • Breast augmentation (augmentation)
  • Breast reduction (reducing plastic surgery)
  • Breast lift (breast lift - mastopexy)

Systemic therapy

Surgery is an important, but usually not the only step in the treatment of malignant neoplasms of the breast. Modern examination methods can show that breast cancer is not a local, but a systemic disease. Therefore, in most cases, along with surgical treatment and radiation therapy, forms of therapy that can affect the entire body are important in order to prevent local recurrence of the disease, as well as systemic recurrence of the disease - metastasis.

These include:

  • Antihormonal therapy
  • Chemotherapy
  • Immunotherapy

Which therapy will be used depends primarily on the clinical (the exact size of the tumor, the number of affected lymph nodes, the degree of cellular differentiation) and the biological characteristics of the tumor (hormonal factor, growth factor receptors, invasive factors (PAI-1, UPA) and others). These are all factors that are diagnosed during the histological examination and then, within the framework of our weekly oncology conference, are discussed together with mammologists, pathologists, radiologists, so that an individually tailored therapy can be recommended for each patient.

Irradiation is performed after all breast-preserving operations. It can also be used in addition to chemotherapy or if breast tissue has been completely removed. The goal is always to destroy the smallest remnants of a cancerous tumor in the breast or in the area of the lymphatic flow.
