The four main areas of plastic surgery are:

  • Cosmetic surgery (does not serve to eliminate a deficiency for medical reasons, but to improve the appearance by changing the shape of an organ, for example, nose, lips, chest)
  • Reconstructive surgery (restoration of an organ or its appearance after operations to remove tumors or injuries resulting from accidents; elimination of birth defects)
  • Plastic surgery after burns (first of all, transplantation of the skin in order to save the life of the victim; further treatment and elimination of burn scars)
  • Plastic surgery of the hands (microsurgery of the hand serves to restore the function of the fingers and hand).
