History of the clinic
The work of the Niederrhein Clinic Association is based on 100 years of experience in the Christian care of the sick in this region. Initially, the four clinics included in the association were separate, independent hospitals:
- Evangelical Hospital (Duisburg-Nord)
- Hospital of the Order of St. John (Oberhausen-Sterkrade)
- Evangelical Hospital. Kaiser Wilhelm (Meiderich)
- Evangelical Hospital (Dinslaken)
- Nursing Home of the Order of St. John (Sterkrade) and
- Nursing home them. Walter Korday on the Rötgersbach) (Duisburg)
Today, the Niederrhein Hospital Association, one of the largest medical centers in North Rhine-Westphalia, provides a wide range of all kinds of medical services. The association includes four clinics with 22 special departments with 1,338 beds and 3,000 employees. Approximately 44,000 patients are treated here annually.
The Center for Cardiovascular Surgery operating as part of the Niederrhein association is one of the five largest clinics for operative heart and vascular surgery in Germany and rightfully has an excellent reputation not only in this region, but throughout the country.
The Urology Clinic, where about 4,700 surgical interventions are performed annually, is one of the largest departments in this field in Germany.
A distinctive feature of this medical association is also the presence of such interdisciplinary specialized centers as the center for diseases of the head and spine, the center for diseases of the prostate and the center for obesity problems, where complex medical cases requiring an integrated approach are conciliarly considered.
Being an academic treatment center of one of the largest universities in Germany - the University. Heinrich Heine in Düsseldorf, doctors of clinics always keep abreast of the latest scientific discoveries of modern medicine and pass on their knowledge and richest practical experience to the next generations, continuing and increasing the glorious traditions of this association. A nursing school and a physiotherapy school are successfully operating here.
