The Academy for Medical Specialties (AfG) is the largest educational institution in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the third largest in the whole of Germany, working in the healthcare system. The Academy was founded in 2004 by the St. Antonius Clinics Concern and the Caritas Charitable Society in order to improve the quality of training and advanced training of doctors and attendants. To date, the Academy offers 620 places for training in the following areas: nursing, occupational therapy, medical and sanitary nursing, obstetrics, surgical and technical assistance, physiotherapy and others. Already this year, it is planned to increase the number of offered specialties.
