Jörg Handschel has almost 20 years of experience in the field of maxillofacial surgery.
From 1987 to 1992 he studied dentistry at the Westphalian Wilhelm University in Münster. In 1991, he completed an internship in Durban/South Africa.
In 1992, he passed the state exam in dentistry and received permission to practice medicine. In 1993 he received the degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences in Dentistry. In 1998 he was recognized as a specialized doctor in the field of oral surgery, in 2000 he passed the third state exam in medicine, received admission to medical practice and a second academic degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences.
Since April 2003, Prof. Handschel works at the Clinic for Maxillofacial and Plastic Surgery at the University of Düsseldorf.
In 2006, he was recognized as a specialized doctor in the field of maxillofacial surgery and appointed to the position of head of the department.
In 2007, he received the right to teach at universities.
Since 2008, he was appointed deputy director of the clinic.
